If a student dis关闭s an incident of sexual misconduct to you, here's what you need to do:

Care for the student

Reassure the individual that you are available to listen and help

  • Get broad details; do not ask invasive or judgmental questions.

Ensure the student is safe

  • Contact the police if there is immediate danger (911) or if the student requests Wittenberg Campus Police (937) 327-6363
  • Let them know that certain things they may tell you about (i.e. discrimination or sexual misconduct) will require you to notify University administrators in order to ensure that they are given timely access to resources and response information.

  • Provides confidential 24-hour free support service, including connecting to campus and community resources and assisting through medical, 法律, and university processes

Fulfill your reporting obligation

Notify the student

  • Inform the student you are submitting a report and that the 第九条 Director will follow-up with the student to review resources and response options, including requests for confidentiality and no action by the University.
  • If the affected student is a minor (under 18 years of age), you must also report to:
    • Call 911 or Wittenberg Police (937) 327-6363 for situations that involve life-threatening emergencies;
    • Call the Children's Services Agency: 855-O-H-CHILD (855) 642-4453;

Report potential violations of this policy to Wittenberg Human Resources and Wittenberg Police immediately following reporting through one of the mechanisms above.
